In Etosha, Namibia, everything feels surreal. It’s strange to see the kind of animals you’d expect on a safari roaming across a vast salt flat, surviving in one of the harshest desert environments, only relieved by a few scattered waterholes.
As we crossed this arid landscape, a group of zebras locked eyes with us, freezing in place. Their hypnotic stripes blended into a mesmerizing pattern, creating an almost optical illusion that made it impossible to look away. For a few moments, we stood there, connected in a silent exchange—each of us captivated by the other’s gaze, as if time had momentarily paused.
