Suddenly the conversation stopped abruptly, my friend touched me in the shoulder making a sign to look out of the window. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing outside. We were trying to contain our nervous shouts of excitement into thin, noiseless mumbles and whispers of shared joy between us. A family of white rhinos was just there in front of us, literally couple meters from us. We were the only ones in there. Rhinos, Africa wilderness and us. We took a lonely dirt road no one else took. We thought we were lost on a pointless road for a while. But there we were with 4 real-life unicorns grazing peacefully in the savannah.
Everything was silent and calm, you could even hear their jaws crunching and chewing the grass meters from us. The creak of the bushes when they scratched their bodies with them. The dry ground and grass cracking under their feet. I can´t describe with words the sensation of seeing this incredible creatures in the wild, at their home, where they should and are supposed to be. Well the only thing to mind that resonates a bit with the experience of seeing this creatures is a scene of one of my childhood favourite movies: Jurassic Park. Do you remember the disbelief and excitement of the kids when seeing the Brachiosaurus (long-necked dinosaurs) from up the tree? Well those sensations exist in real life and it´s not called Jurassic Park but Kruger National Park in South Africa. Let´s care and protect this wonderful animals so future generations can enjoy this show of life.
Whats the animal you´ve seen in real life that made your most memorable and exciting experience?
